Prep Is the Whole Game
Anyone can spread stain. The finish that lasts comes from what happens first: washing off the gray and mildew, letting the wood dry to the right moisture, sanding where it's rough, and choosing a product that matches the wood and the exposure. That's the part we don't rush — because redoing a finish in two years costs more than doing it once in five.
Common Questions
How often should a fence or deck be re-stained?
- Most exterior wood wants attention every 2–4 years, depending on sun exposure and the product used. Horizontal surfaces like deck boards weather fastest.
My deck has gone gray — is it too late to stain?
- Almost never. Gray is weathered surface fiber, and a proper wash and prep brings sound wood back to a stainable state.
Stain or paint for a porch floor?
- Floors take traffic, so the coating matters more than the color — we'll recommend porch-rated products that hold up underfoot.
Do you paint houses or just outdoor structures?
- Both. Interior and exterior painting are part of what we do — same prep standards, same crew mentality.
